Open PhD student positions are available in the Alimonti Lab at the Institute of Oncology Research (http://www.ior.iosi.ch). We are looking for highly motivated people with a degree in biology, biotechnology, pharmacology or medicine. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in experimental and clinical oncology, cell and molecular biology, immunology, and transgenic mouse models of human cancers. Doctoral candidates will be working on functional and translational aspects of senescence in cancer and empirical approaches to personalized cancer therapy in the clinic. The IOSI PhD program is run in collaboration with the University of Lausanne.
Specific projects are in highly competitive areas and deal with:
- Screening and optimization of pro-senescence and senolytic compounds for cancer therapy
- Generation of antibodies against senescent tumor cells
- Generation of new mouse model for prostate cancer
- Characterization of the role of the innate and adaptive immunity in senescent tumors
