The Functional Cancer Genomics group directed by Prof. J.P. Theurillat at the Institute of Oncology Research in Bellinzona, Switzerland (http://www.ior.iosi.ch) is seeking a Postdoctoral fellow.
The successful candidate will work as part of an international team that is dedicated to understanding how new driver alterations culled from cancer genome characterization studies promote tumorigenesis, and how gathered insights can be exploited to develop precision medicines. The position offers excellent scientific opportunities in a highly stimulating and interdisciplinary environment involving close interactions between medical and basic scientists. Investigations range from projects related to:
- Functional characterization of new prostate cancer drivers implicated in chromatin remodeling and protein ubiquitylation
- Engineering of small molecules against key targets of lethal prostate cancer
- Generation of mouse models of prostate cancer progression
- Determined to solve important and challenging questions in biology/medicine
- Ph.D or M.D./Ph.D. (already obtained or soon-to-be)
- At least one first author publication
- Strong background in cancer cell biology (ubiquitin & chromatin biology)
- Experience in CRISPR-Cas9 editing of point mutations in human cell lines
The position is located at the Institute of Oncology Research, a leading institution in basic and translational cancer research in Southern Switzerland with state-of-the-art core facilities and competitive salaries.
