The Group headed by Prof. Francesco Bertoni at the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR) in Bellinzona, Switzerland, is seeking a POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW. The position is available thanks to a 2-years SNSF COVID-19 grant to develop a microfluidic platform for real-time detection of SARS-CoV-2 virus. The project will be conducted in collaboration with Prof. Sandrine Gerber from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) and Dr. Igor Stefanini from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI).
lOR is affiliated to the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, Università della Svizzera italiana, and linked to the Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland (IOSI), the comprehensive cancer center in Bellinzona. lOR is also institutional member of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB).
The ideal candidate must have a PhD with knowledge of molecular biology techniques and viruses. Experience with microfluidics is advantageous. Excellent knowledge of English, good interpersonal and communication skills are required.
The ideal candidate should be independent, have strong collaborative skills, and have the ability to manage multiple projects.
The successful applicant will join a young, competitive group with an excellent publication record established on lymphoma genomics/epigenomics and on the development of new anti-lymphoma compounds. The IOR laboratory is located inside the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB), whose focus is on immunology research.
The salary will be according to the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) guidelines.
Where: Bellinzona, the capital of Ticino, the scenic southern part of Switzerland.
When: the position is available starting from October 2020.
